The Daily Daily Covid-19 infection rate from Coronavirus has almost doubled in the past week, surpassing two known cases a day, underlining how fast the omicron variant has spread throughout the world.
On April 25 last year, the global average reached a height of more than 8.27,000 cases, the level was exceeded in each of the last 12 days because the world case curve mapped almost vertical increases.
The authorities worldwide reported an average of 2.1 million cases in the last seven days, almost three times the number two weeks ago, according to the NYT database.
The new global case number has surged 270% because the Omicron strain was found in South Africa at the end of November, according to the AFP calculation.
But the deaths associated with Covid were at the lowest level since October 2020, with an average of 6,237 per day recorded in the period between January 1 and 7.
However, it has exceeded health facilities from the US to Europe, and LED, school and government companies to curb service due to lack of workers.
The latest spikes have also caused new restrictions around the world and discussions about booster shots.
The latest wave of cases has been driven by plague in the US and Europe, where Omicron becomes dominant.
The two regions each represented 49% and 33% of global cases in the past week.
Covid cases skyrocketed 47% in Europe and 76% in the US and Canada compared to the previous week.
In the same period, Covid infection increased by 224% in Oceania, 148% in Latin America and the Caribbean, 116% in the Middle East and 145% in Asia.
