Patna: The country on Sunday recorded 5,022 fresh covid cases even as a genome sequencing at the Indira Gandhi Medical Institute (IGIM) in Patna confirmed the existence of the omicron variant of the virus on Sunday.
With this, the number of active cases in the state has increased to 16,897.
Patna itself recorded 2,018 new cases in the last 24 hours with the level of participation of more than 21%.
This virus also claims the life of one person on Sunday, taking victims of the country to 12,101.
The Ministry of Health Additional Secretary of Head Pratyaya Amrit said 27 cases of Omicron showed that such other parts of India, a new variant of the virus also spread wings in Bihar.
