Kolkata: One more Kolkata resident, a 27-year-old child who returned from England last week, was tested positive Omicron on Friday.
This is an Omicron case that was confirmed by the third among patients under the institution quarantine in Kolkata.
Previously, a seven-year-old boy from Faraakka and 49-year-old from Kolkata had tested the positive variant in Telangana and New Delhi.
Although the number of omicons in Bengal is not worrying, health experts worry that the number can multiply immediately remember high transmission.
The State Health Department on Friday asked all private hospitals to keep their infrastructure ready and refer to their meetings on Monday.
The latest Omicron patients, South Kolkata residents, have worked in Dublin, Ireland, for the past five years.
He reached the city last Friday, flew from Manchester through Abu Dhabi and New Delhi.
He tested negatively on arrival but developed symptoms and was accepted at the Woodlands hospital after testing the positive covid.
“The patient has been allocated one room in the Covid-19 unit according to the isolation protocol.

The other 26-year-old woman, who arrived in Kolkata from England on December 10, was negatively tested for Omicron on Friday.
He covid negatively on arrival but was treated at the Belowaghata Hospital ID after developing symptoms.

Anticipating more international leaflets that require hospital insulation, health authorities have asked private hospitals not to reject international leaflets, which test positive arrivals, and prefer private hospital care.
“Some international travelers who are positive Covid prefer private hospitals.
Personal facilities need to improve insulation infrastructure for the cases of omicrons suspected and confirmed,” said a health official.
The Ministry of Health has shared documents, ‘Infrastructure information about private hospitals for insulation Covid Omicron suspects from the airport’ with a private hospital.
The hospital must update details, including a number of covid beds, covid ICU beds, isolated beds for international leaflets and the number of ventilators.
“We will hold an online meeting with a private hospital on Monday where Covid infrastructure updates, with pressure on facilities for covid positive international travelers and those detected with Omicron,” said an official Swasthya Bhawan.
