Omicron in Guj: more contagious, but no more immune escape

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) under the State Government Science & Technology Department has completed the genome sequencing of all Omicron-confirmed variants of Covid-19.
While four are small samples, these findings provide significant insight into possible viral behavior.
Country experts found that the omicron variant had better electro conductivity compared to Delta.
“This means that they are better binding with ACE-2 receptors in the human body, making it more contagious.
However, there are two missing proteins – 156 and 157 – in delta which makes absent immune possible.
Great change in binding domain omicron, presence of protein Indicates that immunity – obtained through infection or vaccination – will provide protection to people, “said a senior GBRC official.
Official GBRC said that the electrostatic potential of omicron variants was carried out and compared to Wildype (Wuhan), Delta and Delta-Plus.
“This finding reveals that there is a big change in the receptor binder domain (RBD) compared to Delta.
This is a surge that we see in the Covid-19 image,” said a senior researcher from GBRC.
