Copenhagen: More than half of the European population is expected to be infected with the Omicron Coronavirus variant in the next six to eight weeks, high-ranking world health organizations (WHO) said on Tuesday.
Europe saw more than 7 million new Covid-19 cases reported in the first week of 2022, more than doubled over a two-week period, the Director of Who’s Europe Hans Kluge said news direction.
“At this level, the Institute for Health Metrics and evaluations estimate that more than 50% of the population in this region will be infected by Omicron in the next 6-8 weeks,” Kluge said.
