Bhubaneswar: Omicron on Wednesday emerged as the dominant strain in Odisha with 58% of the samples were collected randomly from 10 districts in positive state testing for new and more transmitting variants.
Around 145 of 249 samples were included in the order of the genome by the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) here found carrying an Omicron filter.
ILS has collected 274 samples, where 25 was rejected because they did not have the required cycle threshold or CT value to be included in the order.
“With 58% of samples sent to us from 10 districts that carry Omicron, clearly without doubt that he has quickly replaced Delta as a more general pressure.
These samples were collected between January 9 and January 16,” said Director of ILS Ajay Parida .
MEARLIER on Saturday, around 75% of the samples have been tested positively omicron.
Analysis of genome samples collected from one or two clusters may not reflect the true picture of the new variant prevalence.
