Doctors say the symptoms of variant omicron is largely different from the delta variants, which dominate the second wave Covid-19.
The doctors claim that it is much less critical in Omicron than in variants of the delta.
“Nine patient is stable.
While some of them have no symptoms, others have mild symptoms.
They do not have complications and recovery was on track,” said Dr Sudhir Bhandari, principal, and the controller SMS Medical College, told TOI.
The doctors are doing their tests, including HRCT and other tests such as D-dimer, but none of them reported complications.
In the Omicron-positive patients, lung involvement has not been found, which is quite common among patients delta.
“None of the nine patients who lost taste or smell.
It’s not as variants of the delta.
Also, none of those who experience difficulty in breathing, and they do not need oxygen,” said Dr.
Bhandari, adding that they constantly monitor.
The situation in South Africa, where variants Omicron take its toll on people’s health.
“In South Africa, of the 1,000 patients, only 4.9% require ICU beds.
Criticality less in the case of Omicron, but manifold transmissibility and infectivity is a problem,” said Dr Bhandari.
Because Omicron has entered the country, Dr Bhandari said two doses of vaccine were important because they were vaccinated two times have very mild symptoms.
