Omicron replaces Delta as the dominant variant in the city

Nagpur: Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) from Coronavirus has become dominant in the city, replacing the Delta Virus strain, revealing the findings of the consistency of the sequencing of all genomes carried out in the National Environmental Research Engineering (Neer).
For a better understanding of the severity of the new strain, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Neer plans to study samples of Covid-19 patients who need hospitalization with genome sequencing.
Following a quick gains in fresh covid cases driven by a very contagious Omicron variant, the first genome sequencing facility Vidarbha was recently arranged at the Institute.
Since the beginning of the year, the Virological Cell of the Neer environment has carried out a genome sequencing in total 201 covid samples, where 199 has an Omicron variant.
Sequencing has been carried out in three series until now, with the first to occur between January 1-6 where 51 of 53 covid samples were identified as Omicron.
All samples 73 and 75 are sorted in the second (January 7-10) and the third series (11-16 January) each is an Omicron variant.
Toi has reported the results of the first two sequencing on January 14.
“Samples are collected through salt methods from various cellular collection and van collection centers.
Since the last two sequencing, all tested samples were consistently found from Omicron, which clearly showed that he had replaced Delta in the city,” said Krishna Khairnar, head Virological cells of the neeri environment and scientists who carry innovative and patient -Friendly method of saline saline RT-PCR samples to detect the SARS-COV-2 virus.
While the data showed that Omicron took over, experts had warned residents not to let their guards down, thinking about the new variant was light.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Neer joined by hand to carry out the sequencing of the genome of patients who were hospitalized.
“The request came from a group of doctors who wanted to realize the variants present in patients who were hospitalized.
This will not only help them in planning their care protocol but also helps us in understanding the trend of the variant and severity,” said Commissioner Municipal Radhakrishnan B.
stating that the number of symptomatic patients who have an omicron variant increase, Khairnar said, “Even though it is too early to come to conclusions, we must remember that the variant is very concerned and should not be underestimated.
We need to be vigilant and control the pandemic, come with researchers, medical experts, The authorities are very important to bring the inter-disciplinary approach.
