Omicron scare: EC to review the situation next week in the midst of HC’s advice about delaying polls

New Delhi: Head of Commissioner Sushil Chandra said on Friday that he would visit Poll-Bound Uttar Pradesh next week to review the situation in the state in the midst of the suggestion of the High Court of Allahabad that the general election must be postponed due to the threat of omicron.
Poll panel’s head said that the right decision would be taken after his visit.
“I will visit up next week.
The exact decision as required by the situation will be taken after we minimize it,” Cec Chandra told reporters to answer questions about the observations of the High Court.
The election in political crucial conditions will mature in February next week.
The High Court of Allahabad has urged the Government Commission and the election to consider delaying the election of one or two months and forcing a ban on all political demonstrations amid concerns of the third wave of potential Covid.
In the Uttarakhand situation, Chandra said he had asked the Head of Secretary SS Sandhu about Omicron cases in the state and were told that there was only one case of the latest Covid-19 variant in the state.
CEC also talks about various protection taken by the Commission because Covid but tries to ensure that whatever is needed will be carried out in accordance with the virus spread.
The High Court said that Lakh was contracted by Covid during the second wave of this year and the election of the Gram Panchayat in Uttar Pradesh and the West Benggal Assembly poll also contributed to a surge.
If this is not stopped on time, the consequences can be more terrible than the second wave of pandemic, it is warned.
The HC statement came in the midst of a slight increase in omicron cases in this country.
The new variant, which appeared in South Africa last month, was very contagious and the possibility of avoiding vaccine immunity.
