Beijing: South China City Zhuhai suspended the public bus route on Saturday after announcing that it had detected at least seven cases of omicron coronavirus variant which was very contagious there and a warning resident not to leave the city.
The coastal city of Zhuhai, which borders the Gambling Hub, Macau, said that the end of Friday Omicron had been detected in one sick patient and six patients without symptoms, after launching mass testing due to cases in neighboring cities.
China fought against a series of Coronavirus outbreaks, including some of the omicron variants, because the country stepped on the virus ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics next month.
Millions of people throughout the country have been ordered to stay at home in recent weeks, with a number of domestic flights canceled and the factory is closed.
Zhuhai officials have asked residents to avoid leaving the city “except need”, with those who were asked to show a negative Covid test results in the last 24 hours.
The city has launched mass testing for a population of 2.4 million people on Friday after the Covid case was detected in Zhongshan’s neighbor at the beginning of the week.
Businesses include beauty salons, card rooms, gyms and cinemas are ordered to be closed on Thursday, with officials announcing the suspension of public bus routes in several parts of the city.
China has maintained a relatively low Covid-19 case throughout the pandemic with a zero tolerance strategy immediately ordering mass testing and strict locking when the infection is detected.
But the omicron variant spread quickly has tested the strategy in the past few weeks, appearing in the port of Tianjin’s port close to Beijing before spreading to the city of Anyang.
The country reported 104 Covid-19 cases which were transmitted in it on Saturday.
