Omicron threat: 2,100 beds in private hospitals on AHD

Ahmedabad: A Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nurse House Association (AHNA) met on Monday to discuss the possibility of a surge in Covid-19 cases because of the Omicron variant.
Members decided to prepare Covid facilities and expand three-fold capacity if needed.
Dr.
Bharat Gadhvi, President Ahna, said that on Monday, Ahmedabad City had 2,150 beds for covid-19 patients.
“Of course, the majority of beds are currently being used to care for other patients.
But they are equipped for critical care and have oxygen supply.
In a short time, the number can be increased to 6,000.
Almost all hospitals also have adequate trained human resources , “he said.
The city hospital has, since the end of the second wave in early June, installing oxygen capacity both in the form of a liquid oxygen tank or swing adsorption plant (PSA), Ahna members.
Meanwhile, the government hospital had been told to make a separate isolation ward for the alleged omicron variant of the patient.
Dr.
Rakesh Joshi, a medical supervisor of a civil hospital in Ahmedabad, said the 12 beds have been intended for isolation purposes.
“If necessary, another ward of 12 beds is on standby at 1,200 bed hospitals.
All infrastructure is ready along with oxygen plants to overcome the possibility of increasing Covid cases,” he said.
The source close to the development told toi that three hotels and 10 private hospitals were being considered by the authority of the citizenship for asymptomatic patient isolation that did not require intensive care.
On Monday, 185 people were in an isolation of houses in Ahmedabad and were being monitored by Sanjeevani Raths.
Officials of the Senior Ministry of Health said that in all the states, more than 100 beds were prepared for isolation of patients suspected of having an Omicron variant.
“This exchange is only for alleged cases.
The patient will be stored there until the results of their genome sequencing arrive.
The country currently has one confirmed case and two cases suspected of the omicron variant,” said an official.
“Settings have been made to increase testing.”
