Mumbai: Omicron has been found in 88% of the positive sample of Covid-19 in the city, making it dominant tension in circulation, BMC officials confirmed on Sunday.
The new variant that emerged in December was elbowed a more violent Delta variant and its derivatives, although experts warn that Shift should not cause a decline in guards.
This finding was confirmed by the BMC eighth genome sequencing, the results were completed over the weekend.
Suresh Kakani, commissioner of additional municipalities, said from 363 samples sorted, 320 (88%) found omicron.
The rest, 30 (8%) are Delta Derivatives, three (0.8%) from Delta and 10 (2.7%) are the others.
Previous genome sequencing conducted in December-end has found Omicron in 55% of positive samples.
The BMC sequencing report repeats the latest findings of the Indian SARS-COV-2 Genomic Consortium (Insacog) that Omicron is now in community transmission in India and has become dominant in many Metro.
Insacog is a 38 lab consortium that reports the genome surveillance of the SARS COV-2 strain throughout the country.
Dr.
Shashank Joshi, a Mber Mber of State Covid, said the low level of hospitalization and his severity was indicative that Omicron had taken over Delta in Mumbai.
“Like South Africa, a very fast peak comes and recedes like a tsunami,” he said.
But, Omicron has three lines, BA.1, BA.2 and BA.3.
“Globally, BA.2 has spread in countries like the Netherlands and Norway,” he said.
The World Health Organization has not been distinguished between Omic-Ron and Sub-Leinage BA.2.
Insacog bulletin says BA.2 Lineage is a substantial faction in India.
Also, the elimination of the gene in Omicron is absent from BA.2.
“S-gene-based playback dropout is very likely to provide a high false negative,” he said.
In Mumbai, more details of the sub-genealogy omicron are waiting.
Doctors say elderly patients continue to come with lung involvement, but the majority are not vaccinated, some vaccinated or very immunocompromised.
“While most omicron cases have so far asymptomatic or mild, inpatient and the ICU case is increasing …
the level of threats remains unchanged,” Insacog said.
