NEW DELHI: At a joint performance by the Delhi Police Special Cell along with also the Manipur Police, Kanarjit Kangujam, also referred to as Dr KK Singh — a self-proclaimed childhood leader that also happens to be the dad of nine-year-old climate activist Licypriya Kangujam — has been detained from his present home in Delhi’s Safdarjung at the wee hours of Monday morning.
Singh, announced absconder from the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East had fled Manipur at 2016 afterwards he had been detained and allowed out on bail after rates of fraud, assault and criminal breach of confidence.
Singh had allegedly fooled several self sustaining groups, resorts and people of over Rs 19 lakh to get an International Youth Meet he had organised in Imphal at 2014.
Singh had allegedly misled country and international dignitaries by describing itself as the manager and acting leader in’UNESCO Youth Foundation’.
Even the UN body had ignored his claims, saying they had no official connection with Kangujam’s base.
On Monday, the authorities acted upon a brand new complaint with a Nepali youth who’d written into the Indian embassy in Kathmandu a year roughly Kangujam defrauding him of Rs 30,000 from the title of a Europe Youth Exchange program.
As chairman of the International Youth Committee, an organisation founded by Kangujam”to facilitate successful partnerships with childhood and youth-led associations,” many national and worldwide students were duped of cash amounting to about Rs 3 crore over the pretext of charges for various global youth exchange programs at 2018 and 2019 which were not organised.
N FIR was registered in the Porompat Police Station at Imphal East at April this season according to his own criticism after which Kangujam had been nabbed on Monday afternoon and produced at a Delhi Court.
“We raided his home at night and detained him.
We’re helping the Manipur Police who are investigating this situation.
They’ll be carrying him back into the nation,” stated Sanjeev Yadav, DCP Particular Cell in Delhi Police.
