Ghaziabad: A 75-year-old man was killed while his 30-year-old nephew was injured after their bicycle was hit by a truck in Muradnagar on Sunday.
Locals and family members then protested and refused to cremate the victim’s body.
The deceased was identified as Jaipal Singh, a resident of the Muradnagar region.
His son Anil said about 12 noon, Jaipal and his nephew Deepak left for a former examination at a private hospital.
On the way home, they stopped to buy medicines.
When they reached the pipeline near the gas station, the land carrying dumper crashed into their bicycles.
“My father drove a pilot.
When the truck hit the bicycle, he fell on the road and was under his tire.
He died in a place while Deepak was thrown into the air.
Commuter and locals took him to the nearest hospital and told the police.
His condition is still critical,” said Anil.
The dumper driver escaped from the place, he added.
After the incident, Jaipal’s family member and several locals blocked the road for almost two hours and burned dumper.
“The police failed to arrest the defendant.
Even though the locals complained several times that heavy trucks and vehicles drove at high speed here, not a single traffic police attended on the road,” annealed allegations.
SP (Rustic) IRAJ Raja said based on complaints, a FIR was registered at the Muradnagar police station against the driver under the part of the IPC 279 (rash driving), 304A (death due to negligence) and 337 (causing injured by the act of harming life or personal security of others) .
“The police are looking for drivers and checking the details of the dumper,” he added.
