Hyderabad: In a large surge, Telangana on Tuesday reported 1,052 new Covid-19 cases, more than doubled the amount recorded the day before.
On Monday, the number of infections was 482.
The state also reported 10 cases of fresh omicron variants which pushed the 94th calculation.
The death toll rose to 4,033 with two more deaths.
The level of prospitis (the number of infections detected compared to the number of tests) has doubled in a day from 1 percent to more than 2 percent now.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation contributed most of the new cases with 659, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (116) district, said the government health bulletin.
“1,000 signs in the last time the last day was reported six months back and we looked at difficult times,” said a senior health department official.
Authorities have ringed warning bells on the arrival of the third wave and the need for extra carefully because everyone is vulnerable now with a virus that spreads quickly.
“Patients with moderate to severe symptoms, with or without a positive Covid-19 report can go to the Covid Government facility notified for testing and treatment.
Beds will be provided and care will be provided free based on clinical requirements,” said Dr.
G Srinivasa Rao, Director , Public health.
He said the Telangana government was ready to overcome any situation arising from the surge in omicrons, new variants of SARS COV-2.
“We begged people to vaccinate fully by taking both doses and also equally important to comply with prevention of Covid-19, including wearing facial masks and maintaining physical distance,” added Dr.
Rao.
Along with the trend of sharp gains in positive cases, the number of active cases in this country also increased rapidly, while the recovery rate in the decline, ranging from nearly 99 percent to 98.7 within three days.
The total number of active cases in the state on Monday is 4,858, approaching 5,000 marks.
In alarming trends, the level of participants (the number of infections per test amount) has doubled in a day from 1 percent to more than 2 percent now.
