One dead, at least 70 lost after a landslide in Myanmar Jade Mine

Yangon: At least 70 people were missing and one confirmed to die on Wednesday after a landslide at the Jade Mine in North Myanmar, a member of the rescue team told AFP.
“About 70-100 people were lost in landslides that occurred around 4:00 a.m.” at the HPAKANT mine in the Kachin state, said the Ko Nyi rescue team.
“We have sent 25 people who were injured to the hospital while we had found one dead person.” About 200 savings are looking to restore the body, and some use a boat to find dead people on the nearest lake, he added.
Dozens of death every year while working in the Jade Myanmar industry are very profitable but not regulated, which uses low paid migrant workers to erode the very coveted gems in Chinese neighbors.
The fight for controlling mines and income often traps local civilians in the middle, with rampant drugs and trading arms further thickening conflict.
Heavy rain last year triggered a massive landslide in the Hypodic Heart of Myanmar Jade Trade in the North Kachin state which hit almost 300 miners.
The February’s military coup also effectively put out the chances of reform to the dangerous and unregulated industries began by the government which was overthrown by the Government Aung San Suu Kyi, the global Watchdog witness said in a report this year.
