New Delhi: A 12-year-old boy was killed while four children were injured after a truck crashed into a wall of a piece in the area of Vasantwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
Children play or sit near the wall that collapsed after the truck was hit on Monday night.
With the help of locals, children were taken out of debris and rushed to the center of Indian spinal bone injury, said a senior police officer.
While a 12-year-old boy was declared dead in a hospital, other children, who were between four and 10, were treated due to injury, police said.
The injured children belonged to Sapera Basti in Rangpuri.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Southwest) Ingit Pratap Singh said the truck driver Mukesh, who fled the place, was then arrested from Alwar.
The vehicle owner has also been taken to police custody.
“The case has been registered under Section 279 (driving rash or driving in a public way) and 304 A (causing death due to negligence) from the Criminal Code, he said.
