Patna: A seven-year-old boy, who was identified as Rajendra, died of the acute syndrome encephalitis (AES) in Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur on Saturday night, took AES victims to this country since January this since January.
Rajendra, a resident of Turkichhajan under Kudhani Block in Muzaffarpur District, was hospitalized on August 6, Head of the Pediatric Department SKMCH, Dr.
Gopal Shankar Sahni, said that on Sunday the victims were taken to critical facilities.
He was treated in an intensive care unit (ICU) from the Pediatric ward, but could not survive.
“We tried our best level to save the child but in vain,” he added.
Relatively the victim, Santu Manjhi, said, “Rajendra complained of high fever, body ache and seizure two days ago.
The family contacted a local dukun, who gave him some medicine.
On Thursday, he was referred to SKMCH where he died on Saturday.” According to official data issued by the Administration of Muzaffarpur District, at all 57 cases AES has been reported to SKMCH from various districts in North Bihar since January this year.
From them, 13 died and 41 were dismissed after their health improved.
At present, only one child underwent treatment in the ward triggered the hospital after being diagnosed as an infected AES.
Two previous people left the hospital without telling the authorities concerned, said a senior health department official.

B S Jha said the conscious campaign was ongoing in areas intended as the worst hit because of AES.
The majority of cases reported from Muzaffarpur, Sitaminhi, Vaishali, East Champaran and West Chambraran Regency.
