Patna: In a new incident suspected of HOOCH’s death, fake liquor allegedly claimed the life of a 19-year-old young man in the village of Narghoghi Khairwan under the Sarairanjan police station in Samastipur district on Friday morning.
Previously, six people had died after consuming toxic drinks in different villages under the Patori Police Station area in this district.
The deceased, Chandan Kumar, used to work in Mumbai and have arrived at home to celebrate Chhath with his family.
Police denied everything related to consumption of false liquor but following all the SOPs set for cases of death related to hooch poisoning.
At least 63 people reportedly died of hooch poisoning in Gopalganj, West Champaran, Samastipur and Muzaffarpur since Diwali Eve.
Overall 116 people have died in a ‘dry’ situation after consuming toxic drinks this year.
Hooch’s death series was attended by harsh action throughout the state of the smuggling of liquor was the main problem at the weekly review meeting held by senior police officers at the State Police Headquarters on Friday.
Sarairanjan Police Station Sho Raja Kumar said the postmortem body Chandan was carried out in aware of the hospital.
“Viscera samples have been preserved for further forensic analysis to find out whether the toxic hooch consumption is the reason behind his death,” he said.
Sho said the police recorded his family’s statement where they denied that Chandan had consumed a bad thing.
“However, there was a murmur in the village for his death because postmortem was carried out,” he said.
He said family members had rushed him to the Dalsingharai sub-division hospital on Thursday after he fell ill but took him home on Friday morning, after that he died.
When asked, Sho could not tell the health complications of what Chandan was suddenly developed because he was rushed to the hospital.
However, the sources said Chandan’s family members initially told the villagers that he had gone somewhere with his friends to party and fell ill in time.
