Thiruvananthapuram: Varkala police have arrested one more person in connection with the alleged sexual abuse faced by a group of tourists at Varkala Teacha Teacha Thiruvambadi.
The police identified the defendant as Thanzil, 28, from Parvur in Kollam District.
The police said the crime allegations took place on June 28.
The complainant in this case is a 29-year-old woman from England and has lived in Homestay in Varkala for the past year.
According to his complaint, the defendant showed obscene movements to him and used the exhibition when he was walking around Techuvambadi beach on June 28.
The police identified and arrested the defendant after checking footage from a surveillance camera installed in Varkala, the Painasam area, Thiruvambadi, Helipad and kurukukni.
This includes police monitoring cameras installed in public places as well as those installed outside the resort, homestay, and shops in this area.
Thanzil was arrested by a police team led by Varkala Sub-Inspector Anilkumar under the supervision of Varkala DSP Babukuttan.
The complainant has faced sexual atrocities twice last week.
On June 30, he and his friends were harassed by other men.
The defendant in the case was arrested in several hours.
