VARANATION: Sleouth Varanasi Unit Directorate of Income Intelligence (DRI) captures someone with a sapdem of foreign gold at the Banaras train station on Monday.
According to official DRI, based on intelligence input, the team intercepted the person at the Banaras train station and restored six foreign gold biscuits weighing 699,240 grams worth Rs 35.66 lakh.
Gold biscuits are hidden under the belt of his waist.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that the contraband it was smuggled from Bangladesh through Malda, West Bengal, and was being transported through Katihar, Mugalarai, Varanasi to Pratapgarh.
Gold was confiscated based on Customs 1962.
Further investigations were underway.
