MUMBAI: An internet request to mention this Navi Mumbai airport following Indian aviation leader JRD Tata has accumulated steam, together with over 15,000 individuals encouraging it from Saturday evening.
“JRD Tata has been called the father of civic aviation..the Navi Mumbai airport be called JRD Tata International Airport,” stated the request, place up under the title’Rustom Doctor’ on change.org.
The website said the request was set up three decades back.
It seems to have gained traction just in the last two days however.
On Saturday it turned into one of the best signed petitions on the website.
On Friday, TOI had conducted a report concerning airports in countries like the US, Australia, France and Turkey which are known after their aviation leaders.
By comparison, in India, not one airport honours virtually any aviation leader.
The TOI report lent Piloo Tata, a part of the Tata family, that proposed the greenfield airport in Navi Mumbai be appointed following JRD Tata.
He, for example, flew the historical 1932 first flight flight, taking airmail from Karachi to Mumbai aboard Tata Airlines, India’s first airline, afterwards renamed Air India.
