Online study is not enough, the design of students moved GUJ HC

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court issued a notification to the University of Carnavati and the University Grant Commission (UGC) after two students submitted a petition that demanded a refund of costs on the grounds of online education deficiency in teaching the subject of their parents’ design and income fell in Covid-19 times, resulting in them to choose to cancel their reception.
According to the details of the case, two students from Indore – Anushka Jain and Ashree Neema – took the entrance test in January 2020 to design courses offered by the Unitedworld Design Institution of the University of Carnavati in Gandhinagar.
In April, they were told that they had succeeded and will be given an entrance ticket.
They chose a four-year degree course in designing.
They paid the cost of Rs 1 Lakh in May 2020.
On July 23, 2020, the university told them that their education program would begin two weeks later.
These students are uncomfortable with online educational mode.
It was the only teaching mode that was permitted by the government because of the Covid situation that applies in 2020.
They decided to cancel their acceptance and their parents were looking for a refund of the university in August 2020, which seemed to be rejected by the university.
They also quote their financial conditions that weaken due to pandemics and restrictions imposed to control the spread of the virus.
When they did not receive a refund for more than a year, the two students moved the High Court in December 2021 through Anvesh Vyas’s advocate, which believed that the design course chosen by students could not be taught well online because it requires a practical approach.
In addition, parents of these students also struggle like many other people in their business and suffer a drastic reduction in their income.
The lawyer citing the circulation issued by the UGC on December 17, 2020, directing all universities, including those who are personal, to restore all fees if students choose to cancel or migrate until December 31, 2020.
Provisions for refunds are made especially for the academic year because of Covid’s pandemic.
HC is to hear this case further on January 12.
