Bhubaneswar: Only 16.18% of government schools in Odisha have computer facilities, which are far less frequently than the national average of 30.03%.
This was revealed by the United Information System Report for Education Plus (Udise +) 2019-20 for school education in India released by the Union Minister of Education.
According to the report, the state has 67,020 schools, including 53,260 managed by the government.
However, only 8,615 government schools have computer facilities.
Furthermore, only 15.96% of government schools have a functional computer against the national average of 28.55%.
However, a government-assisted school, without personal and other assistance fate better in this parameter.
As many as 3,918 of 5,839 government-assisted schools and 4,116 of 6,375 schools without personal help have computer facilities.
The percentage is 67.1 for government assisted and 65.56 for private schools without assistance, higher than the national average.
The report also said only 2.72% of government schools in the state had internet facilities against the national average of 11.58.
Nearly 1,450 of 53,260 government schools in the state have internet facilities.
Likewise, around 5.74% assisted by the government, 35% without personal assistance and 20.18% of other schools have this facility in their institutions.
These schools cannot exceed the national average too.
