Noida / New Delhi: Lanes Fastag at the Yamuna Expressway Toll Plaza will not slow you down if you plan to go to Taj for Christmas or New Year.
From December 22, the three toll plazas – in Jiwar, Mathura and Agra – will operate eight Fastag lines at one of the carriageways.
At present, only two lines on each carriageway are activated cash, which causes traffic to channel this toll booth, extend waiting time.
The agreement that paved the way to open six additional lanes was signed by Yamuna Expressway Concessionauge Jaypee Infratech Ltd and the IDBI Bank on Wednesday.
The need for more paths has been felt for a while with traffic congestion reported from the three toll plazas.
Arun VIR Singh, the CEO of the Industrial Development Authority Yamuna Expressway who has the administrative control of the region, told Ti, “congestion mostly occurs during rush hour morning and night.
People have to wait 20-25 minutes, leading to a long queue on the toll road.
But now , with additional fastag lanes, the waiting period will end.
I have also directed officials to take the necessary steps to prevent road accidents on the toll road.
“Sources said the Indian Highways Management Company (IHMCL), which was under Jalan Authority National Raya India (NHAI) and applying the Fastag program, has warned that Fastag facilities will be withdrawn from the toll road if the path does not increase.
“Because Fastag is a national program and NHAI apply it throughout the country, we accept complaints, regardless of whether highways or toll roads are operated by private players or government institutions.
So, we get a bad name without our fault.
People have sincere reasons To complain because they had put money in their cottage for a more smooth trip at the Toll Plaza, “said Nhai official.
Santosh pawar, GM (operation) at Jaypee Infratech, said that they did not expect a sudden increase in the number of fastaging vehicles after the second covid locking.
According to pawar, the rise in a wise lane phase was previously planned.
“But from around 40,000 vehicles, the number of vehicles has increased to nearly 80,000 a day now on the 165km Yamuna toll road.
This number rises to around one lakh for the weekend.
On Diwali and around it, the number has risen to 1.5 lakh,” said pawar.
Pawar said getting the equipment needed, some of which came from abroad, taking time.
This includes readers of radio frequency identification (RFID), obstacles, sensors, AVC (automatic vehicle classification), etc.
“It takes time to install and test.
Therefore, there is no delay in increasing the number of paths.
We have planned to increase the path gradually,” said Pawar.
Officials said the busiest stretch of the Yamuna toll road was 49 km between the Toll Jewar Plaza and Zero Point, where Noida Expressway ended.
