Only 20 cases of AES in Muzaffarpur so far this year

Patna: Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), which is known locally as ‘Chambi Bukhar’, which is the main cause of death of many children in Muzaffarpur and the northern districts for the past 25 years, almost contained this year.

Muzaffarpur Children of Pediatricians Dr.

beat Das, who has conducted a toxicological study of Litchis planted in Muzaffarpur, said toxin called methylene cyclopropyl glycine (MCPG) found in Litchi responsible for causing hypoglycemic encephalopathy.
“Litchi doesn’t endanger nutritious children, but only in children who lack nutrition who eat Litchi fruit the previous day and go to sleep with an empty stomach,” he added.
