Chennai: Southern Railway will only operate 343 suburban trains, around 50% of the usual service, in Chennai on Sunday because the Tamil Nadu government has announced the total lock that day to curb the spread of Covid-19.
There are no changes in the letter / express train schedule.
The frequency of suburban trains will be twice in 30 minutes during rush hour.
There will be 113 services in the Chennai Central – Arakkonam, 60 in the Chennai Central – Gummidipoondi section, 36 in the Chennai Section of the beach – Velachery and 120 in Chennai’s Chengalpet section.
The train will also operate the special emu besides this service.
There will be two services in the depot ‘e’ military pattabiram, two services in the ‘e’ e ‘exa-avadi pattabiram, five services in Pattabiram – Pattabiram military siding’ e ‘and five services in the Military Pattabiram section section siding’ e ‘ Depot – Pattabiram.
The train will close all the passenger reservation centers at Chennai Division on Sunday.
But the current reservation counter at the train station will open.
