Only 48% in the age group 45-plus fully vaxxed in Maha

Pune: State Public Health Officials have not reached 100% of the first dose vaccination of a 45-plus population in Maharashtra – one of the important steps to reduce hospitalization and death if there is a third wave of Covid-19.
Nearly 21 districts have so far been registered under the coverage of 80% of the first dose.
Only a handful of districts who managed to vaccinate 70% of the population in this age group even though it was the focus of the drive inoculation.
The country’s first dose coverage in this group was 80% and 48% for the second shooting until November 16.
State health officials stated that there would be a special focus to ensure that the entire population in this age group was given at least the first dose on November 30 in all districts.
The previous deadline specified by the State Health Department to vaccinate vulnerable groups was October-end.
“With the Har Ghar Dastak program, we want to ensure that there is the maximum coverage of this age group.
We want local authorities to make extra efforts to complete the earliest 45-plus population vaccination,” said a senior official of the Ministry of Health Public Ministry.
The Ministry of Health of the Union and who continued to indicate the importance of immunizing a 45-plus population due to the severity of the disease and higher death in this age group.
Members of the Covid task force from the Death Audit Committee also stated that maximum death in the country has occurred in the 45-plus age group.
However, many people in this category have not received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Only Sindhudurg has entirely vaccinated 81% of its population in the age group of 45-added, followed by Mumbai and Kolhapur with 71%.
The coverage of two doses in almost all other districts is below 70%.
Hingoli and Aurangabad are under the rock with 31% coverage.
Hingoli, Nanded, Palghar, Nandurbar and Aurangabad remain in red for poor dose vaccination.
All of these districts have registered under 65% of the first dose coverage and for the second dose are in the range of 30-39%.
The member of the Covid task force warns that vulnerable groups cannot be abandoned from vaccination drive at any cost.
“The local authorities must prepare a wise list and ensure under the door-to-door vaccination program that those who have not been vaccinated visit the center of inoculation approach the earliest house,” said a state health official.
The previous local authorities were ordered to prepare a detailed list of beneficiaries left in all age groups with the help of selection scrolls.
