Patna: Four years from the election under the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) in the middle, only 20% of funds that have been used and six of the 83 projects can be completed under Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL).
The city has the right to get a rs1,000 crore for five years from the center and the state government as its part for rebuilding the areas chosen with smart civil facilities.
The center, however, has provided a two-year extension for project completion.
The six projects completed include the Mega screen (75x42ft) installed in Gandhi Maidan at a cost of around RS7 Crore, Adalatganj pond rejuvenation, Renovation of Patel Beelchand Patel Length 1.25 km, wall art or painting for social awareness, solid waste integrated management system and control Integrated and command center (ICCUc).
According to PSCL officials, work will soon begin on more projects because many of them are in the final stage of the bidding process.
Offer has been issued for nearly 40 temporary projects 31 in the work command stage.
Commissioner Patna Municipal Corporation-Cum-MD from the PSCL, Himanshu Sharma, told this newspaper that the mega screen was launched while the housing and commercial buildings were equipped with a QR code (rapid response) for door-to-door waste collection.
“Under the integrated solid waste management project, a cellular application has also been launched to ensure that garbage must be collected from every household.
All vehicles are equipped with a GPS tracking system.
This project costs up to RS14 Crore,” he said.
“Adalatganj pond is also ready with a laser show and music foundation.
ICCC worth RS16 Crore has also been completed to monitor a number of services and activities in the city.
Other projects are being built including a modern bus stop in 10 places in the state capital to stop the autorickshaw, E-rickshaw, mini buses and cities among other public vehicles, Jan Swa Kendra, Happy Street and Mandiri Nullah, among others, “Himanshu said.
He added: “Work on more projects under the PSCL will begin in the next few months because of the problems associated with them have been resolved” projects such as a 5.5 meter-length embridge between multi-level car parking, multi-capital transit Hub, Subway, Railway Station Area Redevelopment Project and Rejuvenation of Bakargaj Nullah, among others.
