The report was submitted in the parliamentary winter session that was recently concluded.
Among various aspects of the schema and related efforts to deal with a decrease in sex ratio at birth, the committee recommends that the ministry must do all efforts to ensure that finality is reached within six months.
The Committee has searched state data / ut-wise from registered cases, pulse and the nature of their conclusions and confidence within six months since the presentation of this report.
The committee noted that countries have been directed to develop online mechanisms for registration, record maintenance based on PC & PNDT actions to ensure effective accountability, transparency and monitoring.
Observing that 18 countries / UTS has developed an online mechanism, the committee has recommended that all countries can be directed to develop the same and make it roll out within six months.
The report highlights that 71,096, diagnostic facilities include genetic counseling centers, genetic laboratories, genetic clinics, ultrasound clinics and registered imaging centers under ACT PC & PNDT.
“However, it has been observed that some clinics and practitioners are involved in the determination and disclosure of the sex of the fetus.
