Thiruvananthapuram: Unnerved by means of an avalanche of criticism, the ONV Cultural Academy led by filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has chosen to examine the academy choice to honor Tamil poet and hot lyricist Vairamuthu for this season’s ONV award.
Ever since the award statement, criticism was pouring in from many quarters, so questioning the reason for honouring Vairamuthu from whom many girls had elevated sexual harassment allegations before.
Vairamuthu had constantly brushed aside such allegations, stating that it had been targeted at maligning his standing.
“After the recommendation of the award jury, the ONV Cultural Academy has chosen to examine the choice to introduce the award for Vairamuthu,” stated a one-sentence communicating sent from Gopalakrishnan to press Friday.
He’d originally played down the criticism saying that it had been due to his literary genius that Vairamuthu won the awards and award couldn’t be awarded to individuals after assessing their behavior.
Participants of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) in Malayalam theatre were to come outwith complaint against the prosecution choice.
Actor Parvathy, manager Anjali Menon, director-actress Geethu Mohandas chose to the social websites, terming that the academy decision highly inappropriate.
The critics are of the opinion that Vairamuthu, contrary to whom 17 girls, such as webcam singer Chinmayi Sripaada, had increased sexual harassment allegations, should not be honoured with the award at the title of among Malayalam’s greatest literary characters.
Vairamuthu has received seven national awards for his movie tunes.
He’s also a receiver of Padmasri and Padmabhushan honours.
