Ooty Municipality sealed more than 800 shops in the market

Udhagamandalam: The Federation of Nilgican Traders Associations will meet in Ooty on Friday to discuss the issue of sealing the city market because of a store failure to pay the revised rent.
Of the 1,395 stores, 800 was sealed on Wednesday and several others on Tuesday.
Rent was revised in 2016.
According to an Ooty Municipality official, there are around 1,587 city shops in the city of Bukit.
From them, 1,395 is located in the city market.
“After revising the lease, the tenant had not paid the same in the last five years and they now owe us at 38 crore.
Because of the delayed contributions, we face difficulties in paying salaries and meet other costs.” The municipality, the official said, has not finished Electricity bills to Rs 14 crore tones due to the financial crisis.
“We have given enough shopkeepers to pay for rent, but they don’t take advantage of the same thing.” The association of traders previously approached Madras High Court to an exorbitant increase in rent.
This case is still delayed before the court.
R Paramesiswaran, President, Federation of Nilgiris Traders Association, said they did not oppose to pay for rent.
“We have demanded a reasonable revision in 100%, while leases are carried out anywhere between 300% and 600% in 2016.
During the election campaign, the MK Stalin has promised to revise the lease to carry it.
After the problem is resolved, we will resolve arrears in Two to three months.
