New Delhi: following his southern partner’s decision, East Delhi Municipal Corporation will allow an open restaurant in the area under his jurisdiction.
It has come out with policies, accepting anticipatory approval from the mayor and issuing orders to the public health department to implement it on Friday.
While allowing to eat in open spaces and terraces bordering licensed restaurants, restaurants and hotels, Civic’s body has also completed tariffs and conditions to run the facility.
And EDMC officials said, “We basically target people who run restaurants in the local shopping complex, district centers, planned commercial areas and hotels.
Many of them illegally use open space.
They now have the opportunity to use their terrace or open area on the ground floor to serve food provided they follow the norms and submit the required documents for approval.
“Official EDMC added,” Open spaces with good air circulation are considered safer than the rooms covered with AC.
Not only the risk of Covid infection is lower , but open space will also allow more sitting capacity.
“Among the various certificates needed include mandatory approval from the owner to use open space for service and demarcation of open space in building sanctions plan (except for buildings built before 1962).
According to the norm, open space or terrace should not be borne or have flammable material for side vegetables.
“Moreover, there is no action that must be seen publicly and the steps must be taken to block the visibility,” Edmc official said.
For safety purposes, if the height height is less than 1.5 meters, it can be increased with glass cladding or grille.
Under these conditions, restrictions have been proposed in music that will be played in such open places.
“Good live band or loud music shows will be permitted.
Noise must be within the allowed limits,” other officials said.
Regulations prohibit the noise level outside 45-55 decibels in residential areas.
However, unlike in some western countries, the sidewalk space outside the restaurant will not be allowed to be used to sit customers.
And to prevent fire accidents, the policy also does not allow the arrangement of the open area kitchen, so it ruled out barbeces and similar facilities.
EDMC officials said, “We are ready to extend support and expect cooperation from the restaurant owner.
The Civic body, however, has the right to cancel the license for any violation without prior notice.” Open license will apply for three years and will be extended then in addition to establishment .
