Opportunities failed to hit a 11-year-old dream

Thiruvananthapuram: When children are advised to stay indoors because of a pandemic, a 11-year-old boy has cycled, sells fish to help his grandmother and get money for his studies.
Abhijit, a class VII student from St Mary Middle School, Pattom and his sister, a class VIII student, has lived with their mother’s grandmother Sudha Devi in ​​Punchakuari near Thiruvallam since they were abandoned by their parents.
Every day, with a basket on the back of his bicycle, Abhijit departed from home in the morning for sending the fish threshold as soon as his grandmother returned from Vizhinjam with the burden of the day.
The family has seen a better time.
That’s before a pandemic.
Sudha Devi was hired in Teashops and used to do domestic workers too.
After Covid-19, he lost the means of life and did not have another source of income.
“Fish sales do not take decent income.
Previously, at least sometimes, I could buy the food they like.
But now, it is impossible for me to do it,” said Sudha Devi.
Abhijit, however, hopeful.
“I want to be a police officer.
I am happy to help my grandmother who has sold fish for the past year to look after us.
I know very well he struggles to make a goal meeting.
He bought me a bicycle with a small savings so I could bring fish in my cycle.
With the afternoon I was free, “Abhijit said.
When Abhijit and Sudha Devi left for work, his sister, Amritha did housework.
“My biggest dream is to take care of my grandmother and sister as soon as I grow up.
Our parents left us at Anganwadi.
Since then, Grandma has become everything for us,” Abhijit said.
Abhijit who is very diligent in learning, wants to join the class of swimming, but he must obey financial problems.
Once he reached the house, after selling fish, he attended an online class without failure.
