Opposition, Kerala Government Clash of Multaperiyar Dam

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition and the front in power clashed over the Multaperiyar Dam in the Assembly on Monday.
While the government claims that new dams are only possible with the approval of Tamil Nadu and consensus must be achieved because the two countries move forward respectfully, the opposition slams it by saying that the government has given enough gap to be used against the Kerala Court.
This affects the demand of the country for new dams and reducing the surface of the water in the existing dam, he added.
“People from our country and TN have to coexist in brotherhood.
There must be consensus in all things because people from both countries cannot live in isolation in four limits,” said CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
He said that the government and opposition must stand together, as before, and the Assembly has passed four resolutions in this case in 2001, 2009 and 2014.
However, the current opposition seems to have a different view of this problem, he said.
Vijayan said his statement was ‘no problem now’ was made to prevent unnecessary public fears.
Water Resources Minister Rosy Augustine said that Mr.
had begun to give intimacy first to declare the release of water from Mullasiyar because of the strong intervention by Kerala.
He added that the Supreme Court also agreed to hear the Kerala holder at the Decree of the Expert Committee on November 11, which would not be possible without sustainable state intervention.
The opposition leader VD Satheesan against that even though the problem is a common interest, the current government in the Dec 2011 – which is contrary to the human chain on the Mullasiyar problem, demands the water level down to 120ft.
How could the same person now revealed assistance to court direction to limit the surface of the water to 139,5ft, he asked.
Sathean said that at the latest meeting of the high-powered committee in Mullaseriyar, the representatives of the country agreed that the dam in Mullasyar was safe structurally, hymid and seemologically up to 142ft.
He showed that in 2018 itself the opposition has warned that the findings of the Central Air Commission (CWC) which took the attitude towards Kerala’s interest should not depend on the government’s justification for dam management during the CWC flood could harm the interests of the state in the case of Mullalasyar.
Increasing this issue as a leave for the delay movement, the former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala stated that the government did not have a special attitude in the case of Mullaseriyar despite several warnings, including the discovery of the United Nations University that Mullasiyar was one of the six dams that would be disabled throughout the world.
If there is no threat to the dam, as claimed by CM, what is the need for a new dam? The government must take the initiative for new dams and the team of all parties from the two countries must sit together and discuss this issue, he asks.
The opposition walked out after the speaker refused to recognize the postponement movement based on the explanation given by Vijayan and Augustine.
