Organic farmers welcome Agri budget initiatives

Udhagamandalam: Announcement in the agricultural budget on organic agriculture is a gift for farmers in nilgiris.
According to farmers here, separate wing announcements for organic agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture will increase the importance of organic agriculture and accelerate procedural formalities while obtaining subsidies and other technical expertise.
They also welcome plans to establish an integrated village agricultural market in Nilgiris.
Organic farming has been promoted and driven by the administration of the Nilgiris district under the ‘Nilgiris Organic Mission’ for the past two years.
Although the Hill district does not have a separate department of agriculture, the horticulture department includes vegetable cultivation, millet and tea plantations.

The department also produces liquid fertilizers such as Dasakaviya and Panchakaviya for farmers involved in organic cultivation.
A total of 800 small tea farmers attached to the Kinnakorai Indco tea plant with a total of 600 hectares have been carried under the scope certification umbrella.
