Gurgaon: The authorities on Saturday claimed to have defeated another Bogus call center in Gurgaon, which has been operating outside the commercial building located in Udyog Vihar Phase-5 for the past three months.
Seven people have been arrested for allegedly deceiving US citizens on behalf of security support services.
However, the owner of the call center was great.
From January to date, Gurgaon police and Haryana CM’s fly squad have broken 11 call centers operating from various parts of Gurgaon.
The modus operandi from this call center is almost similar – they are mostly US citizens’ dupe on behalf of social security numbers, technical support and customer care services.
Acting on the tip-off, a team from the CM fly team raided a building at the Vihar Phase-5 udyog on Saturday morning and found 36 tele-callers, including 10 girls, working in the call center Sham.
Officials say each tele-caller is given a script about how to communicate with their potential targets in the US.
The defendant, the official said, would send a pop-up message to the target they forced them to call the customer service number.
But the call always landed in the call center in Gurgaon.
Tele callers will then introduce ourselves as an Amazon e-commerce giant representative and offer to provide technical support to fix problems.
The target is made to pay anything between USD 100-500 for Sham services.
The call center owner has been identified as Nikunj Giri, initially the resident of Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Seven who were arrested from the place were beating Singh Chouhan (36), Alok Sinha (30), Vijay Pal Singh (26), Sameer Kavle (28), Shaya Sharma (23), Ravi Shirke (30) and BouPang (30)).
“The operational call center for the past 2-3 months and they paid a monthly rent of Rs 1.15 lakh for office space,” said Inderjeet Yadav, DSP from the CM flight team.
“The Sham Call Center is used to deceive people on behalf of providing Amazon security services support.
It used to take money from their target in the US through e-Gift cards.” The case has been registered at the Cyber Gurgaon police station under section 75 , 43 and 66D from Information Technology Law and 120B Section (Criminal Conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) IPC.
Previously on June 11, Gurgaon police destroyed other fake call centers that deceived US citizens on behalf of providing customer support for Amazon and Giant Giant Apple.
