Gorakhpur: Police on Wednesday arrested another police officer who wanted to regard to the death of Manish Gupta, Kanpur businessman who was allegedly beaten to death by police at the Gorakhpur Hotel recently.
With this, the total number of arrests in this case has risen to five.
COP escaped because the police had registered a murder case in connection with the incident.
He brought a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
“Police Gorakhpur arrested the defendant Head Contentable Kamlesh Yadav at Gorakhpur when he planned to surrender in court,” said SP City Sonam Kumar to Ti.
On Monday, suspended sub-inspectors of Rahul Dubey and Kumar Portable Prashant were arrested in this connection.
Previously, the police had captured the main accusation of the case, the inspector suspended JN Singh and Akshay Mishra sub-inspector.
Both of them carry gifts of RS 1 lakh each.
The Kanpur Police Special Investigation Team, who investigated this case, has named six police officers as a defendant and announced a prize of Rs 1 Lakh.
On September 27, then Ramgarhtal Police Station Inspectors JN Singh, Phalmandi police posted Akshay Mishra, the Vijay Yadav and three other police officers allegedly broke into a hotel room at Gorakhpur where Gupta lived with two friends.
Then, the police allegedly struggled them caused a fatal injury in the Gupta.
