New Delhi: Facing Flak from the opposition party to exclude Jawaharlal Nehru from posters celebrating the 75th year of independence, the Indian Research Council (ICHR) said the controversy about this “unnecessary” problem as another poster released in the coming days will display Nehru.
“We are not trying to damage anyone’s role in this movement,” said an ICHR Top official, rejected criticism on this problem, and added that poster was one of the many released as part of the Azadi Celebration of Amrit Mahotsav.
ICHR, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, has carried out a series of lectures and seminars on the theme of the struggle of independence under the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
“This is only one of the posters released as part of the Azadi Celebration of Amrit Mahotsav.
There will be several others and Nehru will be displayed in it …
the controversy around this is not necessary,” Ichr officials told PTI.
As part of the college series, the Board has invited various historians and academics to talk about various topics related to the Indian freedom movement.
Opposition parties target the government to rule out the image of the country’s first prime minister from posters and suggest that it has been done intentionally.
Jairam Ramesh, Shashi Tharoor and Pawan Khera are among Congress leaders, who took him to social media and shared the ICHR website screenshot showing photos of Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Rajendra Prasad, Rajendra Prasad, Mohan Mohan Malviya and Veer Savarkar while Nehru’s photo was lost.
Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday crashed into Ichr, accused him of bowing to hate and harm, and asked whether it would eliminate Henry Ford while celebrating the birth of a motorbike or Wright Brothers while celebrating the birth of the flight.
