OTP sans withdrawal: Bank told to pay

Ahmedabad: A Consumer Court has ordered the state bank India (SBI) to pay for its customers from which is the amount drawn six times through electronic transactions and account holders do not get a one-time password (OTP).
This case involves Sanjaykumar Shahu, 45, from Dwarka City.
On December 29, 2020, someone attracted a total RS 30,000 from his account through the Phoneeepe application in six transactions, each RS 5,000.
However, Shahu did not get OTP once.
He came to know about the withdrawal when he tried to pay a fee for his daughter’s study on January 4, 2021.
He contacted the bank and he was advised to file a complaint.
Shahu filed a complaint of the police also in this case and approached the Regency of Jamnagar, accused the deficiency in banking services and demanded a lost amount again along with RS 9,000 compensation.
SBI told the Commission that the Bank did not have to do anything with Phoneeepe and that the customer account was not associated with the application with the Bank’s approval.
Customers submit a complaint to extract money from the bank, even though other people commit fraud to him.
Transactions occur due to confiders’ negligence, the bank proposes.
The panel said that it could not be believed that the Bank was unknown to the Phonepe link.
In the case of electronic banking transactions, it is mandatory for the bank to send an SMS warning tone to the customer.
After holding that deficiency in banking services in the Bank section, the Commission instructed it to return RS 30,000 to account holders.
It also ordered a bank to pay compensation for Rs 5,500 against mental harassment and legal expenditure.
