Our voices are not sold, say 15 families in Ranipet TN

Fifteen families in a ward in a hilly village that came under Arcot Panchayat Union in Ranipet Regency had stated that they would not sell their voices by accepting bribes in the form of money or gifts from candidates who fought for rural polls.
Members of these 15 families have trapped bills on the walls of their homes stating that they unanimously decided that they would choose candidates who qualified without receiving bribes in the form of money or gifts from them.
They appealed to the candidates not to insult them by trying to bribe them to get their voices in local rural polls.
Families in Kurinji Nagar at Ward Number Four in Arcot Panchayat Union in the Regency have launched an initiative for corruption-free local body administration.
As the first step to achieving their goals, they decided not to sell their voices.
There are around 20 families in the neighborhood and 15 of them have promised their support for local body administration corruption free.
“Corruption began when voters received bribes from candidates with promises to choose them.
We decided not to sell our votes to send clear messages to candidates that they also should not indulge in corrupt practices after they won the poll.
After us Receiving money from them, they will focus on recovering the costs they chased to win the poll, “said an elder village.
Most of the villagers are wage workers every day, who struggle to meet needs.
“We are a simple daily wage worker that earns no more than ₹ 100 per day.
Hamlet we don’t have basic facilities such as roads, drinking water and the right waterways and we believe if a original candidate is chosen for the local body, the candidate will try hard to Meet our basic demands and if he fails, we will have the right to do so ask them, “said another village elder.
