Outflows increased to 65,000 cusecs in Mettur Dam

Salem: The Public Works Department has increased water released from the metture dam of 60,000 cusecs to 65,000 cusections from Saturday morning because the influence to the dam will increase.
“Officials of the Central Air Commission (CWC) in Biligundlu in Krishnagiri Regency, Cauvery’s entry point in Tamil Nadu, confirmed that inflow has passed 70,000 cusecs on Saturday morning.
Water will reach the metture dam on Sunday,” said an official PWD, added that all over The inflow was released because the dam had reached a full capacity of 120 feet.
Officials tasked around the clock in the canal of East and West Banks to monitor the flow of water.
“We direct around 2,000 fishermen in Mettur to avoid fishing,” the official said.
A fisherman, S Muniappan, said they received a strict order from PWD officials stopping fishing activities for several days and we stayed in the room according to instructions.
