Over 520 get jabs at 4 sites for vendors and auto drivers

Ghaziabad/Noida: Four vaccination booths for street vendors, daily wage labourers, commercial vehicle operators and autorickshaw drivers were opened in both districts on Monday.
While 193 people were vaccinated at the two sites in Noida, 336 people got the jabs at the special booths in Ghaziabad.
For Ghaziabad, the daily target has been fixed at 400, and for Noida, it is 300.
Walk-ins have been allowed at all four sites, officials said.
The vaccination sites have been set up at the regional transport offices (RTOs) in both districts and those associated with the transport sector can get the shots there.
For street vendors in Ghaziabad, a booth has been set up at the municipal corporation office.
In Noida, the inoculation site is at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, opposite the Noida Authority office.
Those who want the vaccine will have to carry their Aadhaar cards.
“Everyone has to register on Co-WIN.
People can either register and come to the centre or they can come here and our team will help them with the registration process,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, the district immunisation officer, Gautam Budh Nagar.
On Monday, 165 doses were administered at the RTO and 28 jabs were administered at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, in Noida.
Tyagi said that for now, the district has adequate vaccine supply.
There are about 32,000 Covishield and 15,000 Covaxin doses available, he added.
In Ghaziabad, 123 people got the jabs at the RTO on Monday and at the municipal corporation office, 213 people got the vaccine.
Covishield was administered at both places.
Officials said that if footfall is less at these special booths, then they will set up such sites in the rural areas in an attempt to inoculate more people.
Last week, state minister of health Atul Garg had directed the Ghaziabad health department to administer 30,000 shots per day from June 15.
But given the current situation, officials said, they might be able to start the drive only around next week.
Garg had claimed that adequate vaccine stock will be available in Ghaziabad from June 15.
However, the district got only 28,000 vaccines on Sunday and at the current rate, the doses will last till Wednesday.
Of the 28,000 doses, 18,000 have been provided by the state for the 18-44 years age group.
The remaining doses have been sent by the Centre for the 45 plus group.
Officials said the supply is likely to become regular by June 21 once the new policy announced by the Center is implemented.
