New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday said that the Government of Uttar Pradesh could not continue with Kanwar Yatra considering the stand center that Kawanriyas’s movement could not be permitted due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The court gave the last one chance to the state government to reconsider his decision and prepare for the court on Monday if not, it would pass.
Previously during the process, the Government of Uttar Pradesh had told the Supreme Court that he intended to hold Yatra Symbolic with the minimum number of people and with strict compliance with the Covid protocol.
The center has submitted a written statement in the APEX court that the state government should not allow “Kanwariyas” movement to bring ‘Gangajal’ from Haridwar to their temples from their choice.
However, the Center said that considering aged customs and reagent religious sentiment, the state government must develop the system to make the holy ‘gangajal’ available through a tanker that must be available in the location identified / designated so that the closest worshipers can collect them.

The Center told the SC that it lived for a situation that was generated from the nature of the previous challenges faced by the state and it gave informed responses that, basically, could not be static but varied based on the demands of the situation.
Earlier this week, the Uttarakhand government decided to cancel Yatra Kanwar, lately speculation that the Pushkar Dhami-LED government could reverse the decision taken by the Administration of Tirath in the previous one about canceling Yatra.
“At the time of the threat of Covid-19 still towering and the Delta-Plus variant cases have also been reported from Uttarakhand, we cannot allow Hardwar to become a nest of pandemic,” said Dhami while announcing his government’s decision.
“The lives of those people are important and we cannot play with them.
It is important to save lives during a pandemic.
Even God will not like it if there is a lost life,” he said.
