The effect of the coronavirus pandemic, which starts at the beginning of 2020, can be seen broadly even now.
While the “pandemic” and “locking” are a few words that are very widely used for 2020 (due to covid pandemic), for 2021 Oxford (OED) English dictionary has announced the word “Vax” as a word 2021!

“Vax”, said Oed 2021 highlighted the medical breakthrough and the emergence of Covid vaccines throughout the world.
“Vax is the word 2021 this year.
When our lexicographer starts digging our English corpus data quickly becomes clear that Vax is a very striking term.
The relatively rare word in our corpus until this year, in September it was more than 72 times More often than at the same time last year.
It has produced many derivatives that we now see in various informal contexts, from the Vax site and Vax cards to get vaxxed and fully vaxxed, there is no better word capturing the atmosphere last year from Vax, “Read statements on their official website.
The word vaccine was first recorded for use in English in 1799, while the derivative words such as vaccination and vaccines were recorded for use in 1800.
The vaccine came from the Latin Vacca word, which means cow.
It was in the late 1790s and early 1800s when Doctor British-scientist Edward Jenner found a vaccine against smallpox which caused a revolution in the world of global health care.
Another popular synonym for Vax is Jab, which is also very widely used in the past year.
