Aizawl: A female farmer from Meghalaya and a 94-year-old work journalist from Mizoram was awarded Padma Shri by President of RAM Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
While Lalbiakthanga journalists were respected due to their contribution to literary and educational journalism, Trinity Saioo, a mother of six and grandmother from the village of Mulieh Non-Descrips in Jaini Bukit Barat Meghalaya regency won awards for their leadership in agriculture, especially growing from various turmeric ” Lakadong “which is globally famous, which economically lifts the lives of many farmers.
Considered as the oldest work journalist throughout the country, Pachuau is still editing every local vernacular day, “Zoram Tbangau”, published from Mizoram Capital Aizawl City.
Being a veteran of World War-2, Pachuau received several medals during his career in the Army, including Burma Star, a medal of independence, J & K medal and his Seva medal.
After retiring from the Army, he was involved in social work and became a journalist in 1980.
