Den Haag: The Dutch Government said that it would stop the evacuation flight from Kabul on Thursday in what he admitted was “a painful moment” that would leave several people in the Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.
The Netherlands said it was ordered by US forces to go ahead of the withdrawal of American troops on August 31, and advise people to avoid the airport for security reasons.
“The Netherlands has been told today by the United States that he must go and will be in all the probabilities of running the last flight today,” said the foreign ministers and Dutch defenses in a letter to parliament.
“This is a painful moment because it means that regardless of all major efforts in the last period, people who qualify for the evacuation to the Netherlands will be abandoned,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Siigrid Kaag and Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld.
The Dutch Embassy and military team at Kabul Airport will also fly on the last plane on Thursday, he said.
“Everything might be done to help some hundred people who are now at the airport gate taking scheduled flights today.” One Hercules C-130 will remain in this region if an emergency occurs.
The Netherlands said that the US to leave the airport before August 31 because “for several days before, a large number of American soldiers and equipment had to fly.”
