Painting Mars Rainwater in the Leading Cave in Ellora

Aurangabad: The rain in September has resulted in rain water to seep into cave number 32 in the world-famous Ellora cave here for the first time, causing damage to the painting.
The science branch of the Indian Archaeological Survey (ASI) has stepped up to control damage.
Some damage because rain water seepage has also been reported in cave number 33 and other places on the World Heritage site in the last few days after continuous rain.
Known as ‘Indra Sabha’, Cave 32 is a miracle of two-story architecture dug in the ninth century.
This is considered the biggest and best Jain caves on the Ellora site.
ASI Archaeologist (circle Aurangabad) Milan Kumar Chauley on Monday said there was no incidence of rainwater seepage ever recorded in cave 32 in the past.
“Because heavy rains during the first half of September, there was a lot of seepage in various caves in Ellora, causing damage to some paintings.
In cave 32, our science branch has provided support to damaged and loose paintings by using special mechanical jacks and sheets of foam resistant.
Water to remove rain water, “he said.
Chauley said the seepage at the 32 cave was communicated to the ASI headquarters in New Delhi.
“Brass on ASI is expected to conduct a joint survey of the Ellora cave immediately by involving different experts.
Visits will study the current geological status of the World Heritage Site for the purpose of preservation and conservation,” he added.
Khuldabad Tehsil in the Aurangabad district, where the Ellora cave is, has received an excess rain 240mm in September so far – 217% of normal rainfall.
Taluka has recorded 865mm rainfall during the current rainy season since June 1, which is 136% of the expected shower, official data shows.
Date back from the 6th to 10th century, the Ellora cave consists of 34 monasteries and temples dug by side by side in the high basal cliff wall.
In addition to being a miracle of architecture, the legacy site also realizes the spirit of tolerance because it has a sanctuary that is devoted to Buddhism, Hindus and Jainism in one place.
