Pak-Afghan’s trade continued as Border Border reopened

Islamabad: The border intersection between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Chaman opened on Tuesday after almost a month, allowing transportation of goods and citizens of the two countries to cross after the opening of security and customs officials, local media reported.
The Chaman Crossing – the main transit point for truck drivers who moved fruit exports from the city of Kandahar in South Afghanistan – reopened after the final round of talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Spin Buldak on Monday night, Dawn reported.
According to Pakistani publications, the Taliban authority in Kandahar has closed the border in October 5.
“The border is opened for all types of traffic and people to cross to Pakistan and Afghanistan,” said Dawn quoted a senior security border official.
He stated that Afghan authorities released all major cement blocks and other barricades they put on the border to facilitate the crossroads of borders without obstacles.
Some thousands of Pakistan and Afghanistan are waiting to return to their country across the border after completing the procedure agreed upon by the authorities on both parties, the publication said.
“The border intersection was permitted to show the Afghan National Identity Card (Afghan) and Pakistan CNIC, owned by Chaman and Kandahar,” Immigration officials said, adding that a large number of people from both parties crossed the border, Dawn reported.
With the reopening of the border place, Afghan transit trading continued when the truck carrying items left crossing after permission.
“Hundreds of trucks crossed to Pakistan from Afghanistan and to Afghanistan after customs,” said Customs officials to Dawn.
This came after several talks between the two parties.
On Monday, the Pakistani Ambassador to Mansoor Afghanistan Khan said that an agreement was achieved by Afghan authorities to reopen the border of Chaman, almost a month after the border intersection was closed for pedestrians and the Taliban trade, reported publications.
