Amritsar: Although there are objections by India in a row of management and maintenance of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, to the non-Sikh Agency, the Pakistani government again appointed non-Sikh people as a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from the project management unit (PMU), Exclusively formed to run everyday cardapur corridor affairs.
Property Board Evacuee Trust Pakistan (ETPB), a department made in 1960 to keep the property left by Sikh and Hindus during the Indian-Pakistani partition in 1947, has been on September 3, appointed Mohammed Latif as a new CEO, replacing Mohammad Tariq Khan.
The first reaction came from Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) whose President Manjlinder Singh Sire has plugged into the government of Imran Khan Pakistan to send the wrong message to the minority community in the country.
“The Pak Government has sent a message to the Sikh Micro-Minority Community that decisions relating to their affairs and places will be taken by the majority community,” he said, demanding that only the Sikh lead PMU.
Sanda said the DSGMC would also write to the Indian government which looked for its intervention to pressure Pakistan to appoint Sikh as the CEO of PMU.
In particular, in November 2019, the Pakistani government has approved the formation of PMU Kartarpur corridor, and a few days later the nine member team, led by Tariq Khan, was based on.
The Ministry of India’s Ministry of External (MEA) then filed a strong protest, stating that the action had exposed the Pakistani government and his leadership claims to preserve and protect the rights and welfare of the religious minority community.
In an official statement, the MEA has stated that “the Pakistani government was called to reverse arbitrary decisions to eliminate the right minority community of Sikh to manage Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib’s affairs”.
Despite the repetitive efforts, the ETPB Chair, Dr.
Aamir Ahamd, did not respond to telephone calls and messages by Toi, seeing his reaction on the development and objection of Sikh India’s body.
